Walker Point

The Walker Point sondes have been deployed for the season on May 7th, 2026. Overall, the water quality at Walker Point was good this week. Weather conditions included light rain events this week, with 0.58 inches of precipitation recorded at T.F. Green. Surface salinity averaged 9.0 ppt and ranged from 3.9 ppt to 24.4 ppt. At the bottom, salinity averaged 26.8 ppt and ranged from 20.9 ppt to 28.9 ppt. This week, temperatures averaged 15.6°C at the surface and 12.1°C at the bottom. Surface temperatures ranged from 12.5°C to 17.8°C, while bottom temperatures ranged from 11.3°C to 13.7°C.

Dissolved oxygen (DO) at Walker Point remained above the hypoxia threshold (i.e., DO>2.9mg/L) at the surface and bottom depths. Surface DO averaged 11.2 mg/L and ranged from 8.7 mg/L to 14.0 mg/L. Bottom DO concentrations averaged 7.7 mg/L and ranged from 6.6 mg/L to 10.0 mg/L. Chlorophyll readings averaged 15.30 µg/L at the surface and 0.7 µg/L at the bottom. Maximum chlorophyll at the surface reached 46.85 µg/L on the afternoon of May 10th.
