Walker Point
Overall, the water quality at Walker Point was good this week. Weather conditions were dry, with only 0.13 inches precipitation recorded at T.F. Green. Surface salinity averaged 12.5 ppt and ranged from 3.0 ppt to 25.2 ppt. At the bottom, salinity averaged 23.8 ppt and ranged from 7.0 ppt to 28.3 ppt. This week, temperatures averaged 15.3°C at the surface and 13.4°C at the bottom. Surface temperatures ranged from 12.6°C to 19.6°C, while bottom temperatures ranged from 11.5°C to 16.2°C.
Dissolved oxygen (DO) at Walker Point remained above the hypoxia threshold (i.e., DO>2.9mg/L) at the surface and bottom depths. Surface DO averaged 10.8 mg/L and ranged from 8.3 mg/L to 13.5 mg/L. Bottom DO concentrations averaged 7.3 mg/L and ranged from 3.1 mg/L to 9.7 mg/L. Chlorophyll readings averaged 8.02 µg/L at the surface and 2.5 µg/L at the bottom. Maximum chlorophyll at the surface reached 29.71 µg/L on the afternoon of May 12th.
