The NBC couldn’t be more grateful for the suppor

The NBC couldn’t be more grateful for the support and commitment from our Board of Commissioners. They believe in our clean water mission and continue to help us meet our goals.

With the completion of Phase I & II of the CSO project we’ve seen tremendous results in the Bay and further south. Phase III will soon be completed with the operation of another tunnel, 2.2 miles long discharging to the Bucklin Point facility to help continue to meet our clean water goals.

Clean water is so important to Rhode Islanders, the economy and our future generations. Thank you for you dedicated support!

Today was an exciting day for NBC and clean water!

Today was an exciting day for NBC and clean water! Chloe the Clean Water Cruncher made her breakthrough this morning, completing her 2.2-mile journey. Chloe the Clean Water Cruncher created a 30 ft diameter tunnel 125 feet underground along the Blackstone River, making way for cleaner water and better stormwater management in RI.

Another CSO Phase III milestone occurred last week

Another CSO Phase III milestone occurred last week. In the above video is the breakthrough of the micro tunnel. The machine dug a 96” diameter micro tunnel in rock approximately 1,000 feet long which connects to the drop shaft to the main CSO storage tunnel. The route of the micro tunnel boring machine crossed beneath the Seekonk River breaking through exactly where it was predicted to. Stay tuned for more tunnel updates!
