Contract 807D/Bucklin Point Improvements
The Bucklin Point Wastewater Treatment Facility was built fifty years ago in 1952. It is the second largest WWTF in Rhode Island and treats an average of 24 million gallons of wastewater per day from homes and businesses in the Blackstone Valley area.
The facility has not received a comprehensive update in several
decades.
The Bucklin Point WWTF improvement project will address all aspects of the facility, including a new influent pumping station, screening and grit handling facilities, dry weather primary settling tanks, effluent pumping station for dry weather flows, as well as a state-of-the-art instrumentation and control system. As a part of the improvements, the facility will also put in place a fine-bubble aeration system and ultraviolet
disinfection. The first improvements went on-line in the fall of
2004.
The contractor is J.L. Marshall. The project is proceeding ahead of schedule.
