Employing both tried-and-true as well as
cutting-edge and innovative engineering solutions to achieve clean water is
the principle upon which the Narragansett Bay Commission was founded in
1980. As the owner and operator of Rhode Island's two largest wastewater
treatment facilities, the NBC will design and implement nearly $300 million
in clean water engineering projects over the next 5 years.
Engineering projects include the operation
and maintenance of the NBC's 89-miles of underground interceptors (many of
which are 100 years old!), as well as other infrastructure challenges, such
as combined sewer overflows.
