About Empact

EMPACT Project for Narragansett Bay/Mount Hope Bay, Providence, RI and Fall River, MA.

EMPACT stands for Environmental Monitoring for Public Access and Community Tracking. The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) funds EMPACT projects throughout the country. These projects are designed to give the public real time access to information about important aspects of the environment ---in this case about Narragansett Bay and Mt. Hope Bay. This information will help us make day-to-day decisions about how we want to use the bays for work and recreation. The data gathered in this project will also help environmental scientists and policy makers to develop sound management practices for two of southeastern New England’s most important environmental resources.

This EMPACT project brings together experts from all over southeastern New England in marine science, technology and education.
