Elementary
Facility
Tours
For
elementary students in the fourth grade or above, the Narragansett Bay
Commission offers free tours of both the Field’s Point Wastewater
Treatment Facility in Providence and Bucklin Point Wastewater Treatment
Facility in East Providence.
On
the tour, children will learn how the dirty water from their homes gets
cleaned and returned to Narragansett Bay and why clean water is important
for all of us.
Poster
Contest
Each
year, the Narragansett Bay Commission sponsors a poster contest for
elementary students in grades K-6. Although the theme of the poster contest
varies from year to year, the focus on the importance of clean water remains
constant. One winning artist in each grade levels receives a $100 U.S.
Savings Bond and all winning entries are featured on the NBC calendar, which
is distributed to all elementary schools in the NBC service area, as well as
to all elected officials.
In addition, the winning posters are exhibited at a local art gallery.
The poster contest generally occurs in May. For
more information on this year’s contest, contact the Public Affairs
Office, nbcpr@narrabay.com.
