Construction Begins at Fields Point
Construction on the $57 million nitrogen reduction project began this week at the Narragansett Bay Commission's Field's Point Wastewater Treatment Facility. The project will reduce the Field's Point WWTF effluent nitrogen levels to a level of 5 mg/L seasonally from May to October.
Daniel O'Connell Sons, Inc. is the contractor on the project which has received partial funding through the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act (ARRA) administered through the RI Clean Water Finance Agency.
Due to construction activity along the facility entrances on Ernest Street and Service Road, the Visitors Parking Lot and Personnel Gates have been eliminated. To access the facility by foot or vehicle, go to the Employee Entrance Gate (Gate No. 2) at the end of Ernest Street. To exit the facility by vehicle, simply drive to the gate and it will open automatically. To exit on foot, push the button on the gate control box on the left hand side of the gate that reads “Push Button To Exit."
